Jersey City, NJ - On Presidents Day February 18, 2019, Philippine American Friendship Community, Inc. (PAFCOM) on its 4th Taste of the Philippines, served breakfast and full lunch meals for over 200 guests.  What great honor to celebrate the spirit of Presidents Day, through community service in the heart of Jersey City's revitalization zone by helping those in need at Let’s Celebrate Soup Kitchen.

“We are grateful about Philippine Day (referring to the Taste of the Philippines), the food is amazing!” said one of the participant.  Some of the Filipino dishes served were Chicken Apritada, Pinakbet, Pansit, Sweet & Sour fish and more.

Jersey City Council President Rolando Lavarro Jr and his family volunteered up early during the breakfast feeding.  Some of the volunteers were President Elect Helen Castillo, Assistant Treasurer Lita Roxas, Public Relations Maricar Taino and PAFCOMs & friends. Young volunteers had their school off this day with the purpose.  Miss Teen PAFCOM Krismarie was one of these young volunteers.  PAFCOM encourages intergeneration relationship as one of the focus goals this year.

PAFCOM, NJ partnered with Let’s Celebrate with the mission for community outreach giving by helping people move from hunger to wholeness.  Since 1982, Let’s Celebrate open for services included soup kitchen and food pantries.  It was of huge support for the adoption and sponsoring of PAFCOM for the day of Presidents Day holiday for the soup kitchen.  PAFCOM will continue to keep this partnership with in accord mission to the community.

There were shelves and refrigerators that were stock up by the volunteers.  The pantry was well ready for the next days for the participants. Volunteers did extra cleaning and arrangement of goods. “You all made this pantry looks very beautiful.  Something that we all together want to give to the participants – their wholeness” said Regina Miller, Director of Admissions at Lets Celebrate.
