Edgar San Diego's 'HIBLA at PINTA' Unveils a Fusion of Art, Fashion, and Inspiring Legacies at PAFCOM 2023"

In a splendid showcase of artistic brilliance and cultural reverence, the Philippine American Friendship Community PAFCOMNJ.ORG hosted a highly anticipated event, featuring the extraordinary talents of Edgar San Diego. From May 23 to May 27, 2023, the lobby of the Philippine Center in New York will be transformed into an immersive haven, presenting "HIBLA at PINTA," a breathtaking solo fashion and art exhibit.

Edgar San Diego, a visionary artist, first embarked on his enchanting journey with painting by intricately incorporating delicate flora into his iconic Flipiniana gowns. In the vibrant 1980s, the art of hand painting in fashion surged in popularity, with San Diego's masterful brushstrokes elevating creations to unparalleled levels of beauty and sophistication. Other designers sought his expertise to infuse their pieces with his exquisite finesse, resulting in creations that radiated sheer magnificence.

As fashion trends evolved, the allure of hand painting gradually faded, causing San Diego to temporarily set aside his beloved paintbrushes. However, amidst the challenges brought by the pandemic, he rediscovered his passion for painting and channeled his creativity onto canvases rather than fabrics. This rekindled fervor gave birth to a series of obras that eloquently depict the dusky beauty of Filipina women, drawing inspiration from his daughter Abby. Clad in resplendent Filipiniana attire, these artworks serve as vibrant celebrations of Filipino traditions and the kaleidoscope of festivals that grace the archipelago.

"HIBLA at PINTA" emerges as an extraordinary platform, fusing art and fashion to tell a tale of cultural heritage, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence. It beckons visitors to immerse themselves in a realm where San Diego's artistic prowess intertwines with the grand tapestry of Filipino traditions.

As you traverse the halls of the Philippine Center, prepare to be captivated by the symphony of colors, textures, and emotions that San Diego's brushstrokes evoke. Each stroke breathes life into the canvas, revealing the essence of Filipino beauty and the stories that weave our shared narrative.
